Helping you get back to the life you want.
From my military service I have received my fair share of injuries and illnesses that I continue to work on. I have a family, wife and two young children, that I sometimes find difficult to play with due to injuries and illnesses that I sustained while serving.
I had become frustrated with the health care I had received in the past, feeling that it fell short of my expectations. I felt that my providers didn’t fully explain my condition or the reasoning behind the treatments they prescribed. Looking back, I believe that some of the advice I received was just plain wrong.
During my time as an Exercise Physiologist I have been fortunate to assist University of Southern Queensland (USQ) by providing supervision to their exercise physiology students on professional placement, as well as being the Chair of the USQ Sport and Exercise Advisory Committee.
How can I help you?
My sole priority is to deliver a standard of care that I would expect to be treated with myself.
I use exercise as a treatment for injury, illness, and chronic conditions. I help clients like you who have suffered injuries or debilitating physical conditions by working with you to develop a customised exercise program that addresses your specific needs and helps you to recover from your injury or condition.
Progress is possible
When you are injured, you may feel a lot of pain, stiffness, and weakness in the affected area. As an exercise physiologist, my goal is to help you to alleviate these symptoms by teaching you exercises that will help to reduce inflammation, increase blood flow to the injury site, and improve your range of motion. As your injury begins to heal, I can also help you to regain strength, flexibility and endurance in the injured area and minimise the risk of re-injury.
I’ll work with you to set realistic goals, and monitor your progress. I will also work to help you to understand your condition and how it may be affected by different exercises, so that you can make informed decisions about your treatment. I will also provide education on injury prevention, ergonomic and activity modification for daily life, and other lifestyle behaviours that can impact your overall recovery.
As we work together, you will be supported with empathy and understanding throughout the process of recovering from your injury.
My key areas of interest include:
- Musculoskeletal and cardiovascular rehab
- Veteran's health
- Older adults
- Weight loss and behaviour change
- Back, knees, hips and shoulder pain
